Liberty University's Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling (PhD) program provides advanced training in the field of professional counseling or pastoral care and counseling, equipping individuals, like you, for work in either private or public practice, as well as providing the necessary qualification to teach at the university level. This degree is comprised of specialized courses platformed on biblical principles that supply the values, knowledge, and skills needed for effective work as a professional counselor, and is well-suited for individuals, with either a Master's degree in the field of counseling or a seminary degree who seek to expand their professional standing in the community. This program utilizes internships to give you experience in the academic teaching field, and offers a flexible practicum to allow you to pursue work in your particular area of interest. You may choose from two specializations, Professional (Clinical) Counseling or Pastoral Care and Counseling.

The Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling (PhD) from Liberty University is a 63 credit hour program offered in a Blended format which combines online learning with campus residency components. The program requires a 6 credit hour internship and a 6 credit hour disseration. The PhD in Counseling program can be used towards clinical licensure in most states.

Tuition is $425 per credit hour, there is a $150 technology fee per semester, and a $50 application fee.
