Since 1996, Portland State University has been reaching out to distant students through two-way video conferencing, televised courses, correspondence study, and even remote campus locations around the Portland metropolitan area. Their online courses have been designed with the needs of those students who have work or parenting responsibilities that prevent them from traveling to the main campus.
Today, Portland State University is a leader in distance and alternative education in Oregon. With over 1,300 courses that are available via WebCT, students are able to enjoy a variety of options for learning, which includes face-to-face traditional classroom experiences using WebCT as an enhancement. Many programs also use a hybrid approach which asks students to come to campus perhaps once per term, with the remainder of the course online.
So, whether you live in Portland and your schedule precludes your attendance of regular campus-based classes, or live outside of the state of Oregon you have the opportunity to complete courses and earn a respected, accredited degree from Portland State University.
