Kaplan University - Excellent School..No problems 4 me..

I started Kaplan in January 2009. My academic advisor is still my advisor to this day. She made sure all of my paperwork was in order. She calls all of the time to see how I am doing and if I have any problems or concerns. Most of the time I miss the call because I work alot, but she always leave a message with her number. I wonder what school all of these other people are talking about. I'm assuming these are all undergraduate or certificate degree students. You have to realize that Kaplan bought out other schools that were on the verge of failing. They just changed names and were jacked up before Kaplan bought them out... Read Full Review

Kaplan University - Kaplan College - Watch Your Ledger Card!

Read about my experience first, and if you decide to enroll, my best advise is for you to watch your ledger card very carefully! After earning my Associate's degree, I decided to return to school to finish my Bachelor's degree. I decided to go to Kaplan for two reasons: I received an ad promising to give me $1,000 and waive the technology fees, and my employer has a partnership that provides a 12.5% discount off of tuition. With an anticipated bill of $30,000, the 12.5% discount made a big difference, especially since books are included... Read Full Review

Kaplan University - Financial Aid

Kaplan is an excellent school, the only problem I had was with the business office. I shouldn't have to call to receive my refund when classes are over, and some of the financial aid advisors don't know what they are doing. Everything else is great. Read Full Review

Kaplan University - Great Experience

I don't understand all the negative reviews regarding Kaplan University. I had a great experience at this school. The teachers were great, my financial advisor was great and my student advisor was fantastic. What I like about Kaplan is that they worked me, and worked me hard. When I look back, I actually enjoyed it. When I finished my B.S. degree, I didn't know what to do afterwards. Now I am looking into going back, however, the cost is a bit much. If I could rate Kaplan it would be a 4. Read Full Review

Kaplan University - Kaplan University is a Great School!

I have an A.A.S. in Paralegal Studies from Kaplan University and I am currently working on obtaining my B.S. in Legal Studies from Kaplan. Kaplan University does an excellent job of providing students with a quality education. All of the professors in my law-related classes have been experienced attorneys and I have learned a lot from them. Kaplan has also provided me an opportunity to network with other individuals in the legal field, allowing me to expand my list of contacts in the legal field. Overall, Kaplan University has helped me to greatly improve my understanding of the principles of law and of the judicial... Read Full Review

Kaplan University - Kaplan financial aid and business offices

No one in the financial aid office as well as the business offices are on the same page everyone. They're so scatter-brained. Then when you try to reach the Business office manager they don't return your calls. Great school, but the financial aid and business offices are a bit difficult. Read Full Review

Kaplan University - Getting started

I have just started the enrollment process at Kaplan. So far I have to say it has been a good experience. One thing that I can say is that Kaplan might not be for everyone. Its up to the person in school to determine if this school is suitable for them. I believe you have to give the school the chance to help you receive a degree. For those who have had bad experiences I feel for you and I hope you get your issues resolved. I just hope in the future I don't have to deal with any of these unfortunate situations. Kaplan University - Kaplan is not Bad on the Military

I have been enrolled at Kaplan since September of 2008, and I have enjoyed my educational experience. I am in the military and I can honestly say that they have worked with me in every issue I had thus far. My first term, the TA form was not filed properly so I ended up with a balance on my account. When I called and talked to the military financial aid office, they gave me ample time to clear the situation and even let me take more classes. My TA pays for everything and I have no out of pocket expenses. I would recommend Kaplan to anyone in the military. It tailors to your schedule. Don't let disgruntle people sway you... Kaplan University - Kaplan University

This is a really great school. I enrolled in late January 2008 and I can say that this is a really great school. The admissions advisor bent over backwards to get me in or I would have had to wait until the following enrollment time. I enrolled on the last day before classes started. The only thing admissions messed up on was the fact that I was a Veteran and should get the reduced rate. After being in this school for almost two full years no breaks, I can say I am having a great experience. The financial aid department is lacking a bit. One of my advisors did not answer his phone and his e-mail box was full... Read Full Review

Kaplan University - Kaplan vs. Phoenix

I attend University of Phoenix online, however, I watch my wife deal with problem after problem with Kaplan. She decided to go with their legal studies program because at the time Kaplan was the only online school that had an accredited legal studies program. The primary focus of the problems seems to lie within the customer service. The financial advisor and the academic counselors constantly change so there is no continuity. They lose emails and other documents required for financial aid. They only converse through email if you're lucky, because you can only get a hold of their voice mail... Read Full Review

Kaplan University - The Financial Aid / Business Office is unprofessional

I don't have a problem with the academic part because the counselors are very helpful and on point when it comes to students education. However, the Financial Office is a big joke---the financial aid officer does not answer email in a timely fashion. I had recently received a loan to pay for my tuition and I had an excess of funds that they claimed to mailed out, which to this day has not arrive to my address and it been a month later. I complained to everyone in the business office and my financial aid officer---they refused to look into the problem. I am very frustrated with the operation of how the business and financial office. Kaplan University - very confused

I am currently attending Kaplan I am in my second term. After reading these reviews I hope I made the right decision. I did notice that on my financial aid summary my loans and grants have not been paid out for my classes yet. I was told that I would have to pay nothing out of pocket. If it has not been paid by my third term, I am going to enroll somewhere else. I do however like the instructors I've had so far. I have learned a lot in the classes. I like the way everything is set up. After reading the reviews I am worried about getting these bills that financial aid is suppose to cover... Read Full Review

Kaplan University - I do not even know where to begin!

I do not even know where to begin. I had a great first semester. Then I signed up for the second semester, but was overwhelmed with work and physical problems, SO, I decided to drop 2 classes. I was not told that this move would change my financial aid status, nor did anyone contact me. Then 1 week later I got a call telling me that I was in collections, and how did I want to pay for this... So, I told them to DROP me from ALL classes. because I coulnd't afford now to go to school..... Read Full Review

Kaplan University - Good and bad -still wouldn't recommend it

First of all - the idea behind reviews is for people who have had a legitimate bad experience to tell their story. To say that people who have had a bad experience at Kaplan aren't smart because yours was good is a completely uneducated thing to say. My experience at Kaplan was excellent, and I was very excited about the degree that I was earning. My problem came when I had to go to my dean for assistance with a problem that I was having with the clinical placement director. The dean assisted me, and from that day until now, the clinical placement director has been doing everything in her power to make sure that I am not successful... Read Full Review

Kaplan University - I don't understand the negative reviews here

I really think that the people that had bad experiences are not mature, organized or prepared for the college experience, particularly that of an online program. I think that they had the expectation that since it was an online degree that they do not have to do anything. Yes, you have to submit your paperwork properly, particularly the FASFA paperwork, but they send you the links and hold your hand through everything. I am starting my last term here, and I can say that it is as challenging, in ways more so than the work that my sister-in-law had in graduating from Cal State Long Beach... Read Full Review

Kaplan University - These reviews are way 2 low

I think Kaplan is awesome. I attend Kaplan currently and when I read some of the reviews I was appalled when I saw what these people were saying. Kaplan has wonderful teachers and I am in contact with my advisor whenever I need to reach him. Actually, the biology class that I am taking right now is tough, and I have a 3.76 GPA. Due to me being a single mom, I am not currently available to the traditional classroom settings, so online classes were my only choice. I have had very little problems with the financial aid department and none at all with the academic advisors. Ridiculous accusations and totally unacceptable... Read Full Review

Kaplan University - Kaplan University is a FRAUD

It is with much frustration that I explain this situation. I have received quite a few notices of delinquent payments from your bank "CitiBank", on a student loan account for classes. On 3/07 which it is true that I made a decision to attend Kaplan, but I requested a withdrawal from the classes because of hardships. At the time I was not working, as a result of this I could not continue classes, because of interviewing demands and losing my apartment. I contacted my counselor to inform her of my situation. Kaplan University - Continuation of... A CURRENT STUDENT REGRETS

If Kaplan really had a true interest in helping me continue my education and not constantly demanding money, the following information was obtained directly from The Department of Education. Partial overseers of our financial aid system here in the U.S.: I called the Feds at the Department of Education. They told me that ONLY the school is allowed to "extend" someone's financial aid. I was told by the Feds that they have no control over what a school does and does not do in that regard. To make sure that this information was correct, I gave myself three days and called back again and was told the same thing by someone different... Read Full Review

Kaplan University - A current student regrets.....

If you are lucky enough to have an instructor that can capture the attention of all of his or her students, I say, learn as much as you can from that person and don't be afraid to ask questions. At Kaplan, there are only a small percentage of professors like this. The rest will make you feel like you should have never taken on the challenge of attending an online school. Kaplan University - They Sell Your Information

I first contacted Kaplan University because I wanted to earn my MBA online due to work schedule, etc. They called and called - even after I'd answered and spoken with them! - wanting to give me information on their school. After I began my first semester of classes (just recently), they STILL CALLED ME WANTING TO GIVE ME INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR DEGREE PROGRAMS AND SCHOOL!!! Kaplan University - Mililtary students be prepared to battle

I started my C.J. degree with Kaplan University back in Nov of 2006 and I presently have two classes remaining to graduate with a BA in CJ. I truly like the idea of online education and distance learning. It has been very convenient in my life-style. I think that Kaplan's teachers are wonderful. Kaplan University - Go somewhere else

While I felt this school offered a moderate education experience there are too many upsetting things about this school for me to EVER recommend it to another. For the most part the academic advisors were accomodating, I only had one semi-bad one that did not enroll me in the emphasis I requested, and by the time I found out I would have had to take additional courses. I am a graduate of Kaplan University twice now and I was shocked to read some of the terrible experiences that other individuals profess to have had while attending. Kaplan University needs to be investigated for fraud. Both my wife and I started there and switched to the Univeresity of Phoenix. We had no interaction with our financial aid, or academic advisors. My wife did not have interaction with her instructors, and the interaction she had with one they were rude, and unporfessional. This was the biggest waste of time and money. I never got a job because they never gave me my license for NATP program. Kaplan University - Not Work It

The classrooms are nothing more than a big chat room. Most of the times the classes are not really covering anything more than you could pick up from just reading the book. Most of the class work you do is read the book and then write a paper on it. My biggest issue is one that I have heard time and time again, there is no time with the teachers and the “office hours” really don’t exist. It takes them, days sometimes an entire week to get back to you and by that time it’s to late. Also when they do get back to you more often then not the feedback means nothing and provides no real details... Read Full Review

I attend Kaplan College for the massage therapy degree program and it is not what I thought it was going to be. The classes for the therapy program are poorly put together. Kaplan University - Military Beware!

Kaplan is a total ripoff. I mean come on, 275 a credit? That's ridiculous! I'm in the military and the admissions counselor made the claim that Kaplan works closely with the needs of the military and I would be discounted because of that fact. Nope! Not only was there no discount, but they hounded me to pay my balance immediately. Anyone who's in the military knows that you only get paid for tuition once you get the grades from the school. Just like with everything else in this world, you have to read and research. Kaplan is a for profit, private university. I am about to finish my degree (Dec 08) and I have had a very good experience with Kaplan. The classes have been informative and the interaction with other students has been wonderful. For an on-line university (they have a campus in Iowa) they provide a lot of technical help and support. Kaplan University - Great classes, shoddy administration

The classes themselves were put together very well. What people need to know is that the administration is terrible. They signed me up for a loan I specifically declined; I was entitled to Pell grants, and I’ve seen no evidence that the grant was applied to my account. Kaplan University - Kaplan University was Average

I don't know what else to say beyond that Kaplan was okay. What I really did not like was the people who tried to talked and convince me to signup to start a new semester that every second. Not to mention the b.s. about lower costs if I started now as opposed to a couple months from then. Aren't these universities just trying to make a buck like every other company?
