Chamberlain College of Nursing Reviews
View All Reviews Write a ReviewAfter reading through, it seems as though the positive comments for Chamberlain are from those in the BSN or RN to BSN programs. Neither of those programs are accelerated. The ADN program however is. I am more than halfway through the ADN program and to be honest all it has taught me so far is that I am really NOT looking forward nursing. Many of my classmate have also talked about the disgust we have for our field now due to the education we are receiving at this school. I had an instructor tell me that nurses tend to eat their young, and that is true with the instructors here too... Read Full Review
This was the most valuable compliment to my nursing career, this degree has allowed me to enter into management. The instructors were experts and sincere. This is NOT a diploma mill as other such RN BSN completion programs are...you are going to take away new concepts that are enriching to your current career and practice. Read Full Review
I am near graduation with one more class to complete through chamberlain's online nursing program. Soon, I will have achieved my BSN. I am a full time tele nurse with a family to support and chamberlain makes it possible to go to work and go to school. I recommend this program to anyone who wants their BSN and is willing to put in the work. Read Full Review
For starters I am an RN and in the process of gaining my Bachelor's in Nursing, and must say I love the program. The instructors treat us with respect because we are already nurses and are probably in the clinical arena doing our post. I wish I could have started sooner and hate that I was ignorant to what Chamberlain had to offer. It is on the expensive side, but what you get back is great. Read Full Review
I just graduated from the RN to BSN online program at Chamberlain. I worked full time as an RN, went to school full time and rasied 2 small children as well. It is all about time management. The syllabus clearly explains what needs to be completed and when. There are no surprises. It is challenging at times but so worth it in the end. I would recommend Chamberlain to anyone trying to further their education who doesn't mind putting in the time! Read Full Review
Not sure what campus you all are referring to, however the Jacksonville campus staff are great! From the generous Admission Staff to the first day of class, I have received top customer service. I started in July, 2011! great decision I made Read Full Review
After reading the reviews, I realize that many of the bricks & mortar Chamberlain students are posting. Please, only the online students as the experiences may be vastly different! I have been a student at Chamberlain for 3 years now. I first completed their RN to BSN program. They were very generous in their assessment of my previous credits, allowed me to challenge both the Leadership and Community Health courses with a written portfolio, obtained all my transcripts for me (helpful to those of us who are schools are closed!), and arranged for financial aide. In no time at all (1 year) it was complete... Read Full Review
While reading through some of the various comments on this website, I feel that as a graduate of the ADN program at the Columbus campus, I should weigh in. I understand that not every teaching style works for every student and that some people need more attention and support than others, but I must say that those student that were "less than impressed" may be a bit .... needy. This school prepares you for the realities of real life nursing, which is a world wear you don't always have the luxury of a hand to hold... Read Full Review
This is a great place to obtain RN to BSN all online. This program allowed me to take my basic classes through DeVry University, and my nursing classes all online. Tuition fees were slightly less than the top competing online nursing program which made this school more attractive. Chamberlain also doesn't harass you with calls until you sign up (another plus). The instructors have been very knowledgeble in their respective areas, and encourage participation/communication. Read Full Review
I have just completed my admissions exam for Chamberlain and passed. I should be starting in the spring semester. At first I had planned on doing the online program for the ADN through talking with the high school recruiter I decided going for my BSN was a better option, receiving a bachelors degree in three years is just amazing, plus my ultimate goal is to receive my masters and become a nurse anesthetist. So far I have found the staff to be really helpful, the lady from financial aid explained everything to me I needed to know, and gave me outside resources for financial aid, to make sure I could get everything I needed and be prepared... This is an excellent (and accredited by the appropriate parties) program. I can only speak about the RN-BSN option. The communication between faculty and students has been consistent and excellent. For the most part the interactions between students has been good. The program is heavy on the writing - lots of papers - but it is good and reinforces APA style writing. Read Full Review
I really enjoyed my time online with Chamberlain. I was able to graduate in less than a year. The academic advisors and financial aid counselors were very responsive throughout my time here. The professors were fabulous. It is very writing intensive, however I truly enjoyed the online format and discussion forums in each class. While it is difficult, I did score straight A's...I'm not sure if I just performed really well or if everyone received good scores. It is accredited which is great as well. Read Full Review
I am in the middle of my RN to BSN online program. I have found the teachers and level of work challenging, the online platform easy to use and my co-students to be of an excellent caliber. Expensive program, but well worth it. Read Full Review
Getting a BSN is just a formality in Nursing. I didn't get any extra money after graduating. I did get a good looking resume. The nurse managers were impressed by my BSN. They thought it was great. So great, I got signed up for some really cool committee work.
I learned more a Chamberlain than my local colleges offered that's for sure. I definitely feel more prepared than my peers. Just the critical thinking alone was enough to propel me. I'm doing great now. I know I still have to advance into a master's program if I want to play hard-ball within administration. I am looking into Chamberlain again... Read Full Review
Being at Chamberlain has provided me when a wonderful experience inside and outside the classroom. I had previously attended a large University and going to a private school was a shock to me. I was overwhelmed with how easy it is to see your professor, and how much better class participation was.
My first semester I struggled with comparing Chamberlain to my last school, but I then realized the curriculum required more critical thinking out of me than I had gotten from the previous school. Chamberlains classes did not fill my head with useless information... Read Full Review
In my search for an online program, I have experienced poor customer service from several "admission advisors " Who are these people? Are they experienced enough to advise anyone on anything? You contact them via e-mail , call them, sent them personal information only to receive promises that the project related to questions asked will be completed or answered (I'm still waiting). These "admission advisors" are only interested in making a sale. Their main goal is to have you sign on the dotted line. If this type of service is provided at the front door, what type of service would one receive once your locked into a contact... Read Full Review
The biggest problem is that the school is very unorganized. Teachers come and go like a revolving door, and the communication between the staff and teachers is very minimal, which leads to A LOT of confusion. It is not rare to be told your orientation dates the day before you have to be there, which makes child care and work very difficult. It is nearly impossible to get an e-mail or phone call back from both the staff and the teachers. Attendance policy is 2% off your grade for even one day missed, if they don't have a doctors note. Many of the teaching styles consist of reading straight from the power points. Read Full Review
Here's the good: It's a good program - either online or on-campus. I currently attend and in my second and final year of the ADN program. The Teachers are practicing nurses, and they know their material. If you attend and graduate, you will be an RN, and you'll be a quality nurse. Here's the bad: I found the campus experience weak. The teachers were disorganized; getting time to speak with them was difficult; I also found one or two with poor teaching quality - reading the book with a power point - please. E mail and phone calls took forever to receive replies... Read Full Review
I was accepted into the ADN program in Columbus in Spring 09. The first semester was a mess. My teachers weren't on the same pages and my labs were so unorganized we wasted so much time just sitting around. When we did get into the lab the equipment didn't work...not even battery operated digital thermometers. This was very disappointing for the amount of tuition I was spending. I felt with the huge amount of money that I was forking out the the college, absolutely all materials in the labs should work. This was just an unpleasant experience and I ended up transferring out of the program along with many of my classmates... Read Full Review
I have had a very positive experience with Chamberlain College of Nursing. The material is relevant and challenging. The instructors are practicing nurses and have much knowledge to share. DeVry University is the sister campus for non-nursing classes. I do not rank the instructors as high as Chamberlain, but I may have not related to them as well since they were not nurses. Overall, very expensive but you do not have to take a lot of unnecessary classes. Read Full Review
This is a great program. I had no difficulties using the website. The advisers were very helpful and the instructors were encouraging and provided great feedback on assignments. Although this is a fast paced program, the information and presentations provided are structured very well to promote independent learning as well as a great deal of interaction between students. The Tuition is about $7,000 per semester. The faculty is unavailable for any question or help. Teacher's won't return your e-mails. The expectations are not clear, yet if you don't complete things exactly how they want them, you aren't allowed do go to lab and learn your skills. There is only ONE open lab, on friday afternoons, yet if you don't go to it, you probably will have trouble passing. The clinical dates are not told to you, till a week before they start, which makes having even a part time job difficult. It is a lot of money, for not much education. I would recommend a community college over this one Read Full Review
