University of Phoenix Online - Learning teams from H*ll

There are two things that the University needs to fix and fast. First is the student portal. The library could use some updating. When you access a data base, and type in the subject you want, you're more likely to get Aunt Bea's Apple pie recipe than you are articles on the subject you are researching. The next horror are the so called "learning" teams. If you have read other reviews about one or two people on a team carrying a paper, then you have heard accurately. Complaints about this go unanswered... Read Full Review

Grantham University - Accreditation?

Accreditation? Regionally means colleges and university are part of that region's accreditation, there are six regions of accrediting bodies. Nationally means any college or university from any region can apply for nationally accreditation, which is one body. The Department of Education does not state one is better than the other. The difference is regionally accreditation is more expensive, don't like to accept other school's credits if they are nationally accredited... Read Full Review

Bryant & Stratton College - Know what your getting into...

The nursing program at the Parma, Ohio location is poor at best. The school solely cares about it's NCLEX passage percentage, which is often above 90% because of the FEW students that make out it alive to actually attempt the state test. The program director, and assistant, care not how many hundreds of students dreams they crush along the way. The scoring of their ATI test for final exams is also a joke. Look elsewhere, expensive school that does not care about you the student, only cares about themselves the business. Read Full Review

National American University - Great Experience!

I completed four years at a traditional university but I wasn't independently wealthy like many of my peers and had to work for a living. I could not complete my degree during that time and a move across country and a death in the family derailed my college education. However, NAU was a great find. It is expensive but I felt I got an education I can be proud of. Faculty can be elusive if you don't engage them first but I found that I always got the level of attention I wanted and required... Colorado State University Global Campus - Student Experience

CSU-Global Campus is a fairly new accredited online program. They are still working out some glitches in their system, updating the website, and making a genuine effort to make online learning a valuable asset for all ages of college students. Without this type of learning experience I do not believe I would have persued my goal to earn my B.S. in the traditional 'go to class' type setting. If you want to earn your B.S. or Master's degree I would highly recommend checking out csuglobal.org! Read Full Review

University of Maryland - University of Maryland University College

University of Maryland University College is vital for students who are serving in the military, and also for non-traditional students such as myself (50's, working, etc.). The school is regionally accredited and has had a long affiliation with the University of Maryland. The expertise and teaching credentials of the professors all meet or exceed my expectations. Kaplan University - A current student regrets.....

If you are lucky enough to have an instructor that can capture the attention of all of his or her students, I say, learn as much as you can from that person and don't be afraid to ask questions. At Kaplan, there are only a small percentage of professors like this. The rest will make you feel like you should have never taken on the challenge of attending an online school. Western Governors University - Excellent School

I have read many negative and positive reviews on here, and believe the negativity comes from misunderstanding. Those who actually read about the school and understand the program will find success. WGU is not for everyone, you need to be self-motivated and able to properly use the resources that they provide. The guided learning tools are meant to assist, not replace textbooks that are part of the required learning resources. The self-paced courses work well for allowing you to balance work and school. The tests and other assessments can be challenging or easy depending upon your background and prior education... Read Full Review

Thomas Edison State College - great school

I was a Navy nuke ELT stationed onboard a submarine while attending Thomas Edison for three years. Initially, I completed a BSAST in nuclear engineering technology using transferred credits from my prior 3 years of traditional college, 2 years of Navy nuclear power school, and four Thomas Edison classes (these classes were difficult and objective, it should also be noted that some other crewmembers of my submarine failed Thomas Edison classes).

After that, I completed their Masters of Science in Management program. It was difficult, time consuming, and I learned a lot that I use on a daily basis... Read Full Review

Ashford University - Going Downhill

They were great when I started in 2006, but now tuition is almost $1100 a class and the teachers take less interest in their students. You never know when financial aid is going to get around to sending you the disbursement needed to help pay for books (they say 7 or 14 weeks, then add 2 to process, and then another 4 if a grade isn't posted and another week to process that) so I am paying high interest on loans that I am not seeing the money! Strayer University Online - Not worth the cost

Admissions process consisted of submitting transcripts and completed application. Very little counseling or help with identifying and attaining goals. My goal was to become a CPA. This diploma does not provide sufficient amount of credits for meeting educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam in Florida. Had to figure that out myself. Western Governors University - Absolute scam!

Anyone looking for an online university should absolutely stay away from WGU. The program of study is a series of non-related web links that take you to the websites of other colleges! Kaplan University - Kaplan Graduate

Kaplan, is a great School and I had a good experience at Kaplan while I attended, but the questions that you have to answer before posting this review are very much one sided questions. I can honestly say that the entire time that I attended Kaplan I did not always get a response from the academic advisors, no I did not but they are people and they get busy as well as we do, but I know that it's no excuse but I have nothing bad to say about Kaplan some of the instructors were a little difficult but you don't let this stop you... Western Governors University - Online Study at WGU is Outstanding

After reading all of the reviews, I seems that those who understand that they will be expected to complete tasks, assignments and pass exams to complete the courses and graduate have all done well at WGU. The program is not easy but it is rewarding. Do not enter Walden thinking they are a diploma mill. Western Governors University - A good education if you're a self-disciplined self-starter

First of all, I, too, am a 4.0 student, and had more than 130 credits to my name from previous starts at colleges. I found it very easy to get around at WGU once I spent a few minutes learning the student portal plus going through the "Education Without Boundaries" course information that is your intro to WGU. I was disappointed that so few of my previous credits transferred in. This is the result of the model used, in which several classes from another school may combine to equate to a "domain" at WGU. UMassOnline - Hit or Miss

As an experience programmer looking to finish my degree, this seemed like a good program. So far, after a few semsesters, the teachers have been hit or miss. On the high end, the teachers knew their subject matter well and were helpful. On the low end, I was stuck with Data Structures teacher who was clearly in over her head, not only was she averse to explaining things in code, she was incapable of explaining things with code and essentially expected us to pay $1,000 for the course and to be happy with reading from a very dated textbook and then try our best to answer poorly phrased questions which made little sense to anybody but... I have been taking classes for over a year. The coursework is like any other college coursework. You either get it or you don't. I feel like the program has given me back what I have put into it. Saint Leo University - Great school, worth investing time and effort.

I have attended both brick and mortar and online degree programs. SLU is first and foremost a brick and mortar school that offers comprehensive online degrees. I enjoyed my education at SLU much more than Colorado Tech Online. Honestly, I enjoyed SLU more when it was administered by University Alliance. However, even through eCollege, it is clear that SLU administration and professors care about their work and the online student community. Like any other school this one has its up sides and down sides. On the up side you can get through material at your own pace. On the down side some of the course material is not correct. Western Governors University - Problems with WGU

I enrolled in the WGU IT program in September 2008. Unfortunately I wasn't told that there weren't "real" IT classes, but that I would be working on getting certificates. The cost of each certificats is about $150, but WGU charges you about $1000 (assuming you only do 3 classes per term). So if you want to attend WGU, take all the certifications on your own, and then transfer them in. You could save over $6000+! I started my first quarter at Strayer in physical classes on campus. Then I moved for a new job and had no campuses nearby so I made the easy transition to online learning.
