View All Reviews Write a ReviewThis school is great but not easy and only gets tougher as time goes on. As a student you have 5 1/2 weeks to finish 2 classes for full time students, but they are flexible and you can do 1 class if needed every now and again. All teachers that I have had have been flexible as well and easy to contact. Live chats are great and offer alot of information on how to successfully complete assignments along with powerpoints used in assignment are posted after each chat. I have attended other schools but this is the only school I have been able to take care of my family and still finish each session... Read Full Review
My experience with Walden up to time I began working on my doctoral dissertation was excellent. Shortly after I began to work on my doctoral study I began to lose momentum and was unable to focus on my topic. I was working full time and had pressures at work but was able to do the minimum work. I am not working this year and things haven't changed. My chair has a laissez faire attitude -- it is all on my shoulders. I spoke to someone who recently completed their EdD at a state university and they told me that doctoral students have "coaches" who have gone through the same experience and help them through the process to completion... I am one semester away from finishing. The coursework is difficult, challenging, relevant, and kept up to date. This is a program only for people who are interested in obtaining a degree similar to that obtained in a brick and mortar school. The workload of this online program is NOT less than a traditional school, so if you can't or won't be able to dedicate that - do not enter this program. The expectations of the professors and administrators are similar to that in a traditional program and the quality of work of students who are able to successfully complete the program is also at that level... I completed the RN-BSN degree in December within 6 months. It was a very positive experience for me from the enrollment counselors to the financial aid department to the mentors. I found the work to be challenging but doable for those who are self-motivated. There are several avenues of assistance if you get off track. My student mentor was very helpful. I will be beginning the MSN next month and have high hopes for another positive experience. WGU offers a good alternative for those who want a reasonably priced, accredited, self-paced program. I am on my 5th course with Ashford University and I have very few complaints. My courses are challenging and interesting and taught by qualified folks who know their stuff. Financial aid funding happens for me the way it is supposed to, though I have had to wait a few days for a reply to an email or voicemail from my FA advisor a couple of times. My new advisor takes an average of 2 days to get back to me, but I am sure I am sharing him with a zillion other students, so I understand. If you are a high maintenance type, or are just impatient by nature, this will not work for you... Read Full Review
I found the MPA program very challenging. As a seasoned public adminsitrator I found the curriculum extremely applicable to the the workplace. The information was current and the instructors were all professionals who maintained high standards. I did the research and compared the curriculum to many residential programs and found it to be comparable. Read Full Review
I have been with Grantham for a few years now and it appears that the coursework, faculty, books and student representatives just improve more and more over time. I am aware that the school has applied for regional accreditation which is great. I'm tired of hearing that the school I selected to attend is worthless, or will not help me land the job I want in the future. This ridicule coming from other students attending online degree programs as well with schools that are regionally accredited. Education is what you make of it. The books are all the same, so if the coursework is challenging and you want to learn, then learn you... Read Full Review
My experience is with the Ed. D. program, the academics and research were rigorous. I believe I learned a lot from this program. However, they drastically underestimate the time and expense this program will need for completion. From my experience it has been almost double the time and cost. Their benchmarks that they say should take two weeks may take an entire semester or more. As several other individuals have stated it sure seems as though they are more about generating revenue than helping you complete the program... Read Full Review
The online program is easy to follow but the education was average at best. Many of my classes involved teachers that were there to grade papers and that was about it. They weren't active in the discussions and papers were often late to be graded. I even had a teacher that gave me resources that didn't fit the description of the assignment when I told him that I couldn't find what I needed. After I explained why it wouldn't work he gave me another resource that also did not fit the description so I again told him why and he never responded after that. I guess he didn't want to admit that the assignment was impossible and I was right... Read Full Review
I graduate this year, from Ashford. So far, I have had an excellent experience. Helpful academic advisor, quick response from financial aide advisor and positive interactions with instructors. I find the course materials relevant and information I apply to my current management position. I also enjoy the excellerated 5 week courses. Read Full Review
After reading through, it seems as though the positive comments for Chamberlain are from those in the BSN or RN to BSN programs. Neither of those programs are accelerated. The ADN program however is. I am more than halfway through the ADN program and to be honest all it has taught me so far is that I am really NOT looking forward nursing. Many of my classmate have also talked about the disgust we have for our field now due to the education we are receiving at this school. I had an instructor tell me that nurses tend to eat their young, and that is true with the instructors here too... Read Full Review
I completed my MA in Educational Leadership. The content was superb! But when I went to get my principal's license I had to take two extra courses. Now I am working on my supervisor's license and need to take four courses. I recently visited Walden's website and noted that they now advertise that my degree is a non-licensure degree. I wish they would have been up front about that when I attended a few years ago. Read Full Review
Not sure yet about Brandman. I have had some good instructors but had one that really spoiled it. Not sure if I will continue since Brandman does not have the name recognition of other schools. However, I really enjoy the flexibility and speed of the courses. Read Full Review
I completed my masters in nursing through WGU, and am working on my second masters in business administration. I love this school! When I am finished I'm considering perhaps a third degree from them. I did my bachelors in nursing through University of Phoenix. It took me two years and cost me 32,000. My masters in nursing through WGU took me one year (I was able to work at my own pace and speed up the curriculum) and cost me just about 3,500. My Masters was one tenth the price of my bachelors! The school work is challenging, but I never found it difficult to find the answers to my questions or to get in contact with course mentors... Read Full Review
This college is not some easy simple cake walk like most think. CTU is hard but you will leave with more knowledge then you know what to do with. They all are great. I wish they had more courses to offer, I would never leave... Read Full Review
I am almost finished. In the first term I completed 68 credits and had 15 transferred in from 10 years ago. If you are motivated and set your mind to working hard then you will complete the degree. Mentors are good and help push you in the right direction but I wish that they had more access to the classes we have to go through in order to complete them. Course Mentors are very good and accommodating. Most are very knowledgeable in their fields. Classes - this is where my opinion starts to turn... Read Full Review
I completed my associates at Strayer, I took some classes online and a couple in class. I was not satisfied with the online classes or with the online courses. I had to correct the teacher over and over after each test. The advisors are never available and even when they are available they give you the wrong information. I had to pay for two classes that I did not need. I did not get credit for a lot of the classes I took at a different university, the books are expensive and the worse part is that you cannot sell them back because they want a new edition every semester. The cost of the classes are high, there is no guidance... Read Full Review
I graduated this year w/ a BS in Business Management from WGU. I've read all kinds of reviews before I chose WGU and always vowed to do one, once (if) I graduated. Well I did, and here it is. First, the reason I chose WGU was Accreditation. They are the only on-line school, that I found at the time, which is "regionally accredited". That is the one that matters-I found. National accreditation from the US Gov't, (distance learning etc) and other minor associations are not cutting it for me. So all these "online" schools say they are accredited, but check it out... Like most of the "typical" Concord student body, I am a working professional having had a successful first career. My undergraduate degree was a BS Computer Science from a traditional brick and mortar school. I decided to enroll in Concord due to my desire to explore the field of law. I researched a number of online programs and finally chose Concord. And I'm glad I did. Herewith some random notes of my experiences: 1. The program delivery was superb. Each year (and subject) was broken down into modules. The student website kept you on pace with a color coded guide to show you if you're keeping pace or falling behind. 2... Read Full Review
I attended my BA at Upper Iowa and have been in my MBA with and am to graduate in June 2012. College has come easy to me my entire career. Ashford professors expect the best of me. When I slack, they are quick to be on me. My advisor follows up any time I slack on getting into class. Overall, the Masters program is definitely no degree mill. The knowledge I have gained has been tremendous. I am currently a Regional CEO for a national Financial Firm. Read Full Review
Some teachers are great, other, well they are really bad. Some take weeks to grade papers, this is a problem when one paper builds off the next. Your advisor is a joke, can never get ahold of mine. Financial aid is decent, other students are great. Overall a pretty good school. I did my undergrad at a different online school, SJU is a far better school. Read Full Review
OIT Strengths: - The profs know what they're doing, and if they don't then students give them bad term reviews and the profs potentially get fired. - For the most part most of the profs (with a few exceptions) really care about getting students through the coursework and having them understand the material. - The campus is pretty safe. Campus Safety is on duty 24/7 365 patrolling etc. Campus Safety is also friendly. - There are a lot of student jobs to be had while you're working (I know, I've worked 7 of them). Student jobs are good because they work around your class and test schedule... Read Full Review
Bellevue was such a good place for me at the time I attended and I'm very happy that I made the choice to go there. Bellevue helped me get my degree, but it was not easy like some have said on the other reviews. Every school or college has its strengths and weakeness, and every part is not usually all the way good or all the way bad. What you put in, is what you get out of it. And that goes for any school and institution. Writing the major on the diploma is not what defines you, it is what you have learned while you were in school is what you have to sell to the employer... Read Full Review
This was the most valuable compliment to my nursing career, this degree has allowed me to enter into management. The instructors were experts and sincere. This is NOT a diploma mill as other such RN BSN completion programs are...you are going to take away new concepts that are enriching to your current career and practice. Read Full Review
In my opinion University of Phoenix is a wonderful online school. I love it. My financial and enrollment advisors are both amazing and extremely helpful, as well as my instructors. I am in my fourth block of classes and my advisor still checks on me at least every other week. I have always felt that everyone involved really wants their students to have success. I am very happy I chose this school. I am a single mom to a four year old and also work full time. Although the program is intense and a lot of work, I have learned so much. As long as you are diligent and work hard, you will succeed... Read Full Review
Overall pretty good! Exactly what I expected from an on-line university of this size. The classes are of similiar structure every time and the grading and expectations are consistent. Some professors grade very slowly which can be hard since students are not there to ask in person to ensure that they are on the right path with their assigments. Schedules are flexible and classes are offered frequently so you can drop within a certain period of time and attempt the same course with a different professor if you don't vibe with the first one. Overall very good and affordable. Read Full Review
I am near graduation with one more class to complete through chamberlain's online nursing program. Soon, I will have achieved my BSN. I am a full time tele nurse with a family to support and chamberlain makes it possible to go to work and go to school. I recommend this program to anyone who wants their BSN and is willing to put in the work. Read Full Review
To all you Naysayers out there, I have been a WGU student for over a year now. It does get more difficult as time goes by, HOWEVER REMEMBER: 1. It is an online college, so quit complaining about no student interaction, and also quit complaining that you don't have a professor. There are web chats for every program and almost every class that have an instructor and a power point presentation. Every one that I have attended they have answered my questions. Most reviewers that whine about no instructor clearly haven't looked at all of the course resources. 2.If you are not self motivated OBVIOUSLY this college is not for you. 3... Read Full Review
I love the school, has great impression on me. It is inspiring me to do better and develop my career. Online learning is challenging; I love to be challenged. The professors are great; they take it seriously and they answer questions very quickly. It is even better than being in the classroom. All staff at that university are so nice, respectful, and answer very nicely over the phone. Great costumer service. They are what they say they are........I would recommend the school to anyone. For starters I am an RN and in the process of gaining my Bachelor's in Nursing, and must say I love the program. The instructors treat us with respect because we are already nurses and are probably in the clinical arena doing our post. I wish I could have started sooner and hate that I was ignorant to what Chamberlain had to offer. It is on the expensive side, but what you get back is great. Read Full Review
I am completing my BSN online for Nursing and it is more or less preparing for a Masters Degree. The papers you have to write are extremely excessive. Of course they ask for no more than 10 pages...with 3 questions in one, that never happens. You have assignments, multiple assignments, that you are writing 35+ page papers. This is very common. IN speaking with my colleagues in Master's programs, they express that they have never even written a paper of this length. Their capstone presentations are shorter than the papers we have to write!!! So maybe Ill switch...n ope you cant... Read Full Review
Great school. I got my Associate degree in Nursing through two year college and got my BSN through WGU. A traditional school will take around 2 years to complete ur BSN and I finished mine in a year and may be with half the cost of a traditional school. Read Full Review
I am currently attending Kaplan and love it. I have had NO issues with the business office or financial aide. I have a 4.0 GPA and know exactly who to call if I need help with anything. I had no knowledge of how to navigate going back to school and they told me EVERYTHING I needed to know and have always been kind to me. Read Full Review
I chose Benedictine for their history of academic excellence, and what I thought was their flexible online program. I am an American living abroad and travel extensively with my job and require professors that can accept an occasionally late assignment when my real job gets in the way of my schoolwork. If I had the free time, I would have attended a traditional school. Beyond a few professors that are rigid in their grading habits, the worst part about the program is that their concentration courses to specialize your MBA (in Finance, International Business, etc...) are offered every other session when you are trying to finish the degree...
