SO FAR, IT'S BEEN OK Walden University

    I am finishing my first year at Walden. Hope to get a PhD in Epidemiology in 3 - 4 years from now. So far, it's been OK. Some instructors are really responsive and provide valuable feedback, while others simply don't do that much. It's a mixed bag! But yes, it is hard, and you have to invest a lot of time and money into it. I have heard about people having difficult time finding their thesis chair; this seems to be a persistent problem at Walden. Too many students, not enough profs to mentor masters' and doctoral students in their research. At the last residency I attended, they assured us that they are in process of hiring more people - don't know how accurate this really is. Also, some courses seemed "out of focus" - they tried to do too much and it was impossible to study and learn anything in-depth. So far, Walden has been OK.
