Go"Great experience"
I am completing my dissertation at Walden University. I expect to be finished in about a month. I have been to four traditional schools and Walden is my first online experience. It was recommended by my partner who earned his PhD at the school. I found the support at Walden to be exceptional and more comprehensive than any traditional school that I attended. All resources were available to me from my laptop. The writing center, tech support, dissertation editors, librarians and other support services are exceptional. My instructors, for the most part were readily available through e-mail or telephone. Most gave their telephone numbers to students. My stat instructor was available 7 days a week for guidance and help. He is now a member of my dissertation committee. I have received help and support from Dr. DeZolt, the provost on my dissertation. She and I met during a residency. Yes, students need to be proactive. I met Dr. DeZolt because I signed up for one of her advising sessions, but anyone could do that. I believe that my experience at Walden was so positive because I was very proactive. I reached out to many faculty members and administrators and they responded and gave me a great deal of support. Walden is a school for mature students who are willing to take responsibility for their own learning. The program is very research intensive and very demanding. You will learn a lot. There is a tremendous amount of support. However, you education will not be spoon fed to you if you are a graduate student. No one will come looking for you if you do not ask for assistance. I have received a high quality education at Walden. It is a transformative experience.
