Go"Great Experience Until the Doctoral Study"
My experience with Walden up to time I began working on my doctoral dissertation was excellent. Shortly after I began to work on my doctoral study I began to lose momentum and was unable to focus on my topic. I was working full time and had pressures at work but was able to do the minimum work. I am not working this year and things haven't changed. My chair has a laissez faire attitude -- it is all on my shoulders. I spoke to someone who recently completed their EdD at a state university and they told me that doctoral students have "coaches" who have gone through the same experience and help them through the process to completion. What a great idea! I have talked with professors from other universities who are sympathetic to my situation but cannot offer advise. As a student who is iin their fourth semester of my doctoral study, I am discouraged and feel no one cares if I complete my EdD. Maybe some students have their districts paying for their courses but for those who are on their own, the accumulation of debt is a real concern. I can understand how people feel that the school is supporting a scam. At this point in time, I would not refer a student to Walden - at least not for the EdD program. This saddens me as I have put so much affort into my work as a Walden student and I feel betrayed.
