Go"Excellent and Challenging"
I have just passed the 1/2 way point to completing my MS in psychology, and I am very happy with my experience. I have been in my program now for 1.5 years - and am taking my program one class at at a time versus the recommended 2. Frankly I don't know how a working professional could manage 2, because each class is very demanding. The degree of required rigor, however, is not out of the ball park for an advanced degree, in my opinion. I have found my coursework to be current and often immediately applicable to my work. My biggest adjustment to on-line education is the lack of interaction between the students and professors - one must be highly self-motivated and be prepared to work with a modicum of support. One-two line comments are about the most you can expect in terms of feedback from your professor, though when I have emailed them, I have found all but one to be responsive and supportive. Much like the Socratic method of teaching, one is challenged to synthesize the readings and research into application with little "instruction", but more in an approach of thinking more deeply about what one has read. The weekly discussions and application assignments provide the forum for the expression of this learning - and I find it tough, yet rewarding. I find I am retaining a lot through this form of learning.
