I completed four years at a traditional university but I wasn't independently wealthy like many of my peers and had to work for a living. I could not complete my degree during that time and a move across country and a death in the family derailed my college education. However, NAU was a great find. It is expensive but I felt I got an education I can be proud of. Faculty can be elusive if you don't engage them first but I found that I always got the level of attention I wanted and required. Course work takes a lot of self-direction as there is a lot of reading and writing work required as there is no class lecture due to an online environment. Classes can be taken in-class if a campus is located nearby although I did not find that necessary.
