University of Phoenix Online - I got my other degrees from University of Maryland so I can only comment on UoP's doctoral program---it was great!!!! The rigor of the program was tough and the quality of the program was very impressive. I would certainly recommend this program to anyone. However---don't expect it to be easier because it is offered on-line. UoP's doctoral program is extremely demanding. Read Full Review

University of Phoenix Online - I found the classes ok but when it came to academic counselors there really not there to help. I fell ill for a week and fell behind in class but was able to successfully complete on class but the other I was late probably by 8 hrs and they did not except it , I loved the class and was averaging a 98% but because They didn't except it which by the way the teacher graded it and I got a 90% . So the end of the story is I got a D+ in the class I academically great in plus until this situation I was avg a 3.98 . So I'm withdrawing from the school to enroll in a school that is more about people and issues that may arise in a persons life rather than just a payment for a class. So anyway if you enroll at UOP online , remember get that final in on time because if you don't for whatever reason you'll have to pay for a class that you failed. Read Full Review

Western Governors University - My experience at WGU has been great. I started February 2007. I was assigned a mentor that I knew was not a fit at the beginning, but I tried to stick it out. When a situation happened that my mentor did not support my side of the the story, I requested a change of mentor. Although it took a couple of weeks, and many memo's to the mentor "boss", my request was granted and I was assigned a wonderful new mentor who understood my particular need as a WGU student. After a year in my program, I realized I was not financially able to commit to a teacher licensing program, and I want to teach adult education. I requested a change of program and as with the change of mentor, it took a written request and always some time. But this change too was granted. I have found if you have a problem of any sort, you can work it out with WGU. Yes, you must have considerable skills in time management and also keep your motivation going. If not, you will fail. Since I work for a community college, I have found 90% of my books through the state library system. Those I could not borrow, I found online at good prices. I have recommended WGU to several people, one has not done well because she just can't commit the time because of family situations. But the other two are doing quite well and will finish. It is all about desire, time management, and devotion to your goal. Read Full Review

University of Phoenix Online - I got my Associates Degree from Axia College at University of Phoenix, then went on to do part of my Bachelor's degree. They suck. The reason I chose U of P is because I already had healthcare administration upper division credits from Southern Illinois University, and was told by the enrollment person that I would receive credit for them. They won't tell you how many of your previously earned credits will apply to your program until after you are enrolled. They accepted ONE credit hour. Ridiculous, as the course descriptions were almost identical, and I had actually received an EDUCATION at SIU. Thousands of dollars down the drain. I tried to withdraw once, but they screwed up my financial aid, so I had to take another class in order to get my federal aid to release. I have had two excellent professors in my 2 years at U of P. The rest were mediocre, and two really stunk. Teammates plagiarized with no visible consequence, although I reported them. Complaints about one professor's antagonistic behavior went without any reasonable response. For the most part, any learning that occurs will be purely accidental. The quality of student they accept is abysmal, as you can see from the first day's postings in any class there... people who cannot think at all, much less critically. Being paired with these losers for projects was painful. The tuition and fees are also unreasonable. I would encourage everyone to explore the online offerings of their local community college. You should be able to knock out 2 years of community college for LESS than the cost of 2 individual classes at U of P!!! Five weeks is NOT a sufficient amount of time to absorb, synthesize, and explain theories and concepts. And just in case you think it's a case of sour grapes, my GPA is over 3.3. I am transferring all of my credits to Charter Oak State College, as they have a very liberal transfer policy, and finishing my degree by exam. Even with matriculation fee, testing fees and graduation fee, it will still cost less than 2 more classes at Phoenix. I would be ashamed to have U of Phoenix printed on my resume after first hand experience with them. Read Full Review

Argosy University - Online - Please read this before making any decisions. Yes, I have a Master's degree, but not from this school. This school nearly took away my education due to the lies and stories they feed you to get you hooked. Take the time to know that if a school is worthwhile then you must take a GRE to get in, unless of course, you have already graduated from that school and do not need to due to obtaining your first degree from there. The staff turnover is unbelievable. Turnover every few weeks, this is NOT A REAL SCHOOL! for example, Tampa, Florida. this is a two story building with approx. four rooms on a second floor that they label a campus. There is no guidance, no real classes and there is NO learning going on here. Needless to say after countless encounters with VERY pushy employees I decided to not further my education at this "school", but rather pursue my goals at a REAL university. Trust me, there is not a single person on this planet that will know, nor be impressed by Argosy University. Just ask anyone! Also, I will not bother you with the details of a instructor that my self and other students had to take all the way to the top for unprofessional behavior and bilking us out of our money. Trust me, don't do it! God Bless! Read Full Review
