Description

Drexel's University's Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Certificate program is additional certificate available to individuals that currently possess a K-12 teaching certificate, and would like to become instructors of English as a Second Language.

All credits earned through this program may be applied toward the Master of Science in the Science of Instruction. This 12-credit TESL certificate program will cover the structure and sound of English, the theory and practice of second language education, the design and assessment of ESL course materials, as well as issues in intercultural education and learneing. This program does not require that the instructor speak another language.

Credits earned through this program may be applied toward the Master of Science in Science of Instruction, and applicants to this program must have a Bachelor's degree from accredited institution, undergrad GPA of 3.0 or higher (grad GPA's will also be considered). GPA's of 2.75 to 2.99 must take and achieve required qualifying scores on the Praxis I: Pre-Professional Skills Assessments.
