University of the Cumberlands

SCHOOL PROFILE |  DEGREES OFFERED

Description

The Special Education (LBD) Certification from the University of the Cumberlands was created for individuals who have at least a bachelor's degree, and have little formal education in teaching or training in special education.

In this fully online special education program, the curriculum focuses on the management of classrooms as well as the enabling its students with the skills needed to implement disciplinary components along with their own teaching method.

The goal and focus of this program is to teach its students the process of implementing a blended approach to their special education style. Using tools like, on-line learning, directed study, distance learning seminars, and a mentorship support.

This program will also use a field component that will aid students in gaining the practical application of the skills they have learned, and provide a "safety-net" for the students while they are gaining insight into the full breadth of the field.

All applicants must have graduated from an accredited institution of higher learning with a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
