The online M.S. in Mental Health Counseling (CACREP Accredited) - Forensic Counseling degree program was created to enable students, through a combination of research, practical application, and coursework, with the understanding that is required for integrating the knowledge and skills they earned to form a career as a successful professional counselor.
As students work through this online counseling program, they will develop the ability to deliver mental health services to populations that are severed by today's legal system.
While in this online Mental Health Counseling program, students will take online counseling courses that will cover a number of topics, such as:
- Mental health law, with a specific focus on juvenile justice and delinquency
- Treatment of Forensic Populations
- Juvenile Justice, Delinquency, and Development
- Conflict, Conflict Resolution and Peace
- Mental Health Law
This program also includes aspects of conflict management and negotiation, and will aid students in gaining the skills that are needed for resolving conflicts in the criminal justice system.
All applicants must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
