In the University of New England's online Certificate of Graduate Study - Education in Literacy Graduate Certificate (K-12) program, K-12 educators will work with number of educational experts as they probe deeper into the meaning of reading and writing for all students to be triumphant.
During the duration of this online certificate in literacy, students will study the process of how research and theory are translated into practice with each and every class.
Each of the online literacy courses in this program will guide students as they study a wide variety of topics, such as:
- Supporting Literacy Development
- Literacy Assessments as Teaching Tools
- Study Skills & Content Literacy Instruction
- Connecting Reading with Writing for Success
- Meeting Student Literacy Challenges
These courses develop each student's skills and literacy interventions that can be used within the content area will be explored. In short, the basic principle of this concentration is that literacy skills are vital for all students to thrive, so how do we transform what the research indicates to inform practice.
Students must have a master's degree from a regionally accredited institution; a valid license or certificate to teach and a minimum of one year teaching experience; currently be employed as a teacher or have access to a classroom on a regular basis.
