
Description
The Art Institute of Pittsburgh's online Associate of Science in Kitchen and Bath Design is a newly offered degree that understands the importance and utilization of a home's kitchen and baths. The aim of this online kitchen and bath design degree is two fold.
The first is to enable its students with the skills necessary for designing or remolding a home's kitchen into a space that is not only stylish but functional, and can be a warm and welcoming space for a variety of social occasions.
The second is to aid students in their development of the skills needed to create or remodel a bath into a stunning work of interior design art that is both aesthetically pleasing, yet functional.
This is a rapidly-developing industry, and individuals who earn their associate in kitchen and bath design degree are able to meet and surpass the challenges of creating a balance between space planning and aesthetics.
This online program offers students course topics in a variety of areas, including:
- Drawing & Drafting
- Perspectives
- Colors
- Lighting and Materials
- Building Systems and Codes
- Products and Appliances.
Each of these areas are aimed at developing the students' base in the fundamental process of kitchen and bath design, which is based on the National Kitchen and Bath Association's guidelines.
Students will also learn to use CAD software in drawing and planning, as well as core business principles used in budgeting and estimates, public relations, bidding, and marketing.
Following two internships students will have a portfolio and the degree needed to begin a career in kitchen and bath design with contractors, builders, manufacturers, retailers or even private clients.
All applicants must have a high school diploma with a GPA of 2.0, or hold a General Education Development (GED) Certificate with a score of 225 or higher,or a bachelor's degree or higher as a prerequisite for admission.
