Sports professionals, until now, seeking to develop their leadership skills would have had to rely upon on-the-job training and informal mentoring among colleagues to build skills in handling ethical and legal matters, strategic marketing issues, and most importantly, leadership training for contemporary sports challenges.Now, Duquesne University's online Master of Science in Sports Leadership will expand the skills needed to succeed as a leader in sports industry. The MSSL provides students with a comprehensive curriculum addressing sports leadership from a management perspective and emphasizes the application of ethics and leadership in the contemporary business environment.
Students in this program will cultivate an ability to lead and refine critical thinking and problem solving abilities, and as part of a peer-learning network, sports professionals will better understand current industry issues in law, negotiation, market research and sales. Current students in the program include collegiate team coaches, senior directors, ticket managers and other professionals representing major league baseball, stadiums, and minor league baseball.
All applicants of this program must have experience working in the sports profession or have an undergraduate degree from a sports-related program. Must have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
