In response to the clinical community and the changing needs of the physical therapy profession, Regis University has designed an innovative Transition DPT (tDPT) program to enable practicing physical therapists to advance their education to the doctoral level. It provides PTs with opportunities to expand beyond the current traditional scope of practice and prepares them for an expanded autonomous role in the health care environment.Consistent with guidelines established by the APTA, the Regis tDPT consists of course content highly relevant to advanced clinical practice and is presented from an evidence-based practice perspective, allowing PTs to apply the most current and relevant medical literature to individual patient management decisions on a daily basis. The learning experience allows flexibility in design and can be tailored to meet the professional and personal needs of practitioners. The tDPT program is offered in an accelerated format, a primarily online model with attendance required on campus for a maximum of four weekends throughout the entire program.
