An occupational therapist works with people who have been compromised by disabilities, illness or injury. Their job is to help these people perform daily tasks, go back to work, and improve their quality of life. Some occupational therapists specialize on a certain category of patient, such as children or older adults, as well as specific types of disabilities. 

To work as an occupational therapist, you’ll need to earn an occupational therapy certification. To earn the certification, you’ll need to complete a Masters degree in occupational therapy. You must earn an occupational therapy certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) before qualifying to earn licensure in your state. You can earn your occupational therapy degree online or at a traditional school.
