This course is designed for first time Flash users who are interested in exploring the possibilities of animation. Even if you do not consider yourself an artist, mastering Flash can help you create business presentations, product demonstrations, cartoons, and even video games!
Coursework focuses on mastering the basics of Flash 5. Students will become familiar with, and be able to use the Flash 5 interface, as well as the tools and panels associated with this interface. Basic animation techniques and skills will be learned, as students learn how to create, edit, and export their own Flash movies!

This class requires internet access and the Flash 5 Application. You can download a free 30 day trial of Flash in your first lesson.
Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Recognize and understand the Flash 5 interface and associated tools and palettes.
- Create vector graphics and manipulate bitmap graphics using the Flash 5 tools and palettes.
- Utilize Symbols and Layers to organize their movie and minimize file size.
- Learn multiple animation techniques and gain an understanding of the Flash Timeline.
- Learn how to apply special effects to a Flash animation.
- Export their file for different platforms and uses such as minimizing file size.
- Become famiar to advanced topics to explore on their own, as well as available Flash Resources on the web.
Assessment
1. Upon completion of this class, the student will have demonstrated an overall understanding of the layout, tools, and palettes associated with the Flash 5 interface.
2. Student can receive feedback by emailing the instructor the short animation that was created as a final project.
