Course Code: DED9145
School: Stonebridge Associated Colleges UK

Course Materials Available: 365 Days Estimated Hours to Complete Course: 90

Description

"In the acquisition of a new habit, or the leaving of an old one we must take care to launch ourselves with as strong and decided initiative as possible."

No family consciously makes a decision to become dysfunctional and do harm to its members. However, there is a strong attraction that dwells in our memory of the past, despite its negativity, and where marriage is concerned there are often unrecognised forces at work.

Through its maladaptive behaviours, this family develops a set of restrictions that inhibit the social and emotional growth of its members, particularly the children.

This course covers:

  • Meaning of dysfunctional families
  • Rules of dysfunctional behavior
  • Recovery - the therapeutic process
  • Dealing with feelings
  • Dealing with dysfunctional behaviors
  • Moving on - emotional intimacy
  • The client - the family & the healing process
  • Aspects of recovery

Outcomes

On completion of your course, you will receive two qualifications:

Dysfunctional Family Counselling Certificate

Dysfunctional Family Counselling Certificate issued by Stonebridge Associated Colleges, entitling you to use the letters SAC Cert after your name.

ASET Level 2 Dysfunctional Family Counselling Award

This Course leads to an ASET Level 2 Award Certificate for successful learners. That means that it is independantly accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 2 on the National Qualifications Framework (NFQ) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland (in which case GCSE's are at levels 1 and 2 and A Levels are at level 3).

The Award has been designed by a learning provider to meet specific learners' or employers' requirements and as such is not listed as a qualification on NQF. While the duration, content or assessment may vary from similar national qualifications, in accrediting the programme at level 2, ASET attests that its learning outcomes are at an equivalent level to a level 2 national qualification.

Assessment

After each lesson there will be a question paper, which needs to be completed and submitted to your personal tutor for marking. This method of continual assessment ensures that your personal tutor can consistently monitor your progress and provide you with assistance throughout the duration of the course.
