Description

Introduction to the CorelDRAW illustration program with emphasis on use of the tools and basic functions of the program including page set up, objects, fills, manipulation, duplication, importing and exporting object, and saving files.

The student must own a copy of CorelDRAW, Version 6 or above. (CorelDRAW 8 and 10 are available for the Apple operating system but this curriculum is written for the Windows version. If the student is highly proficient with the Apple system and familiar with the Windows operating system, it is possible to convert all the commands and successfully complete the class.)


Outcomes

Upon competition of the exercises, the students request a test from the instructor. They are to create a four-page document that demonstrates their understanding of the course material. That file is emailed to the instructor and graded. The student receives a passing evaluation if they correctly follow directions and produce the illustrations requested.


Assessment

The student will be able to identify tools, functions and effects available in the program; set up a page for an illustration; create objects and manipulate those objects; add text and clip art; and customize the GUI. Knowledge of the program increases the mployability of the student and enhances the career development of employees.
