A medical secretary can find employment under the following titles medical secretary, medical transcriptionist, medical records secretary, rehabilitation specialist assistant, rehabilitation secretary, medical office receptionist, insurance specialist, medical voucher clerk, underwriting clerk, clinic clerk, admissions clerk and hospital clerk.


Individual salary amounts differ. But, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical secretaries earned a median annual salary of $23,430 in 2000. The middle 50% earned between $19,530 and $28,120. The lowest 10% earned less than $16,510, and the highest 10% earned more than $34,510.
