Implementing LEED for Existing Buildings

Course Code: 383227EAU
School: Lorman

Course Materials Available: 365 Days Estimated Hours to Complete Course: 2

Description

In January 2009 the U.S. Green Building Council installed the third-generation version of its well-known green building performance rating and certification system, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.

This latest LEED system results from more than four-years of technical research; reviews of many actual LEED certified projects and advisory activities of hundreds of technical experts. The 2009 revisions are comprehensive and may reduce building environmental impacts by 10 percent on LEED certified projects, focusing mainly on further reductions in energy waste and enhanced water conservation. This is the first major rework of LEED since 2005 and represents a major upgrade and harmonization of technical criteria.

USGBC will focus its rating and certification efforts using this latest unified version and rapidly move away from the multiple products of the past. Only limited use of older LEED versions will be permitted.

The information in this teleconference is important to anyone involved with major green building projects and is useful for building professionals who engage in more lengthy training to become LEED accredited professionals.
