Strategic Human Resource Management
My Distance Learning College
Description
Throughout industry and commerce, some companies seem to have prepared for the future while other companies find that the chief executive is about to retire and no plans have been made to "bring on" a replacement.
Conventional wisdom maintains that managers can prepare for the future by making strategic plans and taking appropriate action. It is believed that these plans and actions will enable them to seize the opportunities and solve the problems they expect to meet in five years time. Some managers do plan (and fail), others plan and succeed.
This course considers whether it is feasible to make realistic plans for the future. In particular, the relationship between HRM strategy and business strategy, the strategic management of human resources, and the role of human resource management in preparing for the future.
