Description

During this course you will become familiar with the wines of the world. Material covered will include grape varieties, important wine regions, how wine is made, tasting procedures, how to select wines at a restaurant, food and wine pairing, how to read a wine label, and more.

Outcomes

This course is aimed at educating the wine drinker. The goal of the instructor is to make others feel more comfortable selecting and appreciating wine. There are many wineries in the world, and this course is designed to encourage and help others find the flavors that make them want to order a second (or third) bottle.

Assessment

There will be three optional assignments. The first two will reflect the material covered in weeks one and two. The third assignment will include selecting, tasting and reviewing a bottle of wine.

Instructor

Logan Worley is a Culinary Arts graduate who holds a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Chico. Worley teaches a number of online courses that cover topics such as wine selection. In 2001 he became a Certified National Restaurant Association Sanitation Trainer and is currently studying for the Certified Food Safety Professional exam.
