Description

The main concern in this course is in the electrical forces which, when applied to an electric circuit, cause a flow of current. In addition we shall study what these electric currents do, how they flow and what effects they produce.

The more common electrical apparatus will be discussed, and in doing so, the chemical, heating and magnetic effects of current will be introduced. The objective therefore of this course is to give a better understanding in the many aspects of electricity.

This course covers topics such as:

• Resistance, electromotive force
• Electric circuits, Ohm's law
• Work, energy, power, heat and resistive circuits
• Batteries, electronic theory, electron flow and resistance

Outcomes

On completion of your course, you will receive two qualifications:

Electricity - Fundamentals Certificate

Electricity - Fundamentals Certificate issued by Stonebridge Associated Colleges, entitling you to use the letters SAC Cert after your name.

NCFE Level 3 Electricity - Fundamentals Award

This Course leads to an NCFE Level 3 Award Certificate for successful learners. That means that it is independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland (in which case GCSE's are at levels 1 and 2 and A Levels are at level 3). In accrediting the program at level 3, NCFE attests that its learning outcomes are at an equivalent level to a level 3 national qualification.

This award has been designed by Stonebridge Associated Colleges to meet specific learners' or employers' requirements. Accreditation by NCFE is a guarantee of quality. Assessment

After each lesson there will be a question paper, which needs to be completed and submitted to your personal tutor for marking.
