Description
This course has been designed to provide you with a practical awareness of paddock management and provide a working knowledge of how to care for the grass kept horse and pony throughout the year. This will enable you to:
- Appreciate the specific requirements, restrictions and potential problems of keeping a horse at grass.
- Appreciate the maintenance and planning required to maintain adequate all year pasture.
This course investigates daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal management and maintenance requirements of equine pasture. Management needs of the horse through the year are discussed, including rotational grazing. Particular health problems and ailments related to the grass kept horse are identified and the merits of various management regimes and routines are discussed.
