The use of grammar, or should I say the expected level of grammar for individuals who are entering into college at the freshman level is typically lower than what most people expect would be required of a college student, but that is not to say one should not strive for grammatical excellence.

Grammar is one of the most important parts of education, and being able to speak and write well is crucial. However, there is typically an understanding that one will attend a college to get an education, so one's grammatical skills will not be perfect in the beginning.
