With the current hype on finding new and renewable energy sources growing rapidly, this question comes at a really great time.

At the moment there seems to be no online program that is being offered at any level for Alternative Energy; however there are a couple of brick and mortar schools that have develop programs in Renewable Energy.

But, all is not lost if you are looking into getting an online degree. Because there is no online Alternative Energy program, the spectrum of degrees available opens up, and allows a large number of degrees to be focused on Alternative Energies. What you can do is obtain a degree in almost any field that is of specific interest to you, for example, chemistry, biology, engineering, or even business, and focus your studies on working with Alternative Energies.

In my opinion, your best bet is to find an online program at a school that offers courses in Alternative Energy or something similar, and go there. This will allow you to choose the type of degree you would like, and take classes in Alternative Energies. Also, you can focus your regular courses on Alternative Energies, for example, centering your general course work, projects and research papers on issues related to Alternative Energies.
