Is Ashwood university online Degrees creditable?
- answers

@tamrain : online education is a very good option for many people. I hope that comments posted here do not discourage you. There are some simple ways for you to find out whether a university is legitimate and how credible their degree is. You need to find out that the university you have chosen is accredited with a renowned accreditation agency. In case you don't find this information on the university website, you can still ask the admission office about it. Good luck with your educational plans.

I HAVE BEEN IN THE BUILDING TRADES FOR TWENTY FIVE YEARS HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO GET YOUR DEGREE? WELL DO YOU THINK I DESERVE A DEGREE FOR THE TIME I PUT IN I SHOULD HAVE A PHD IN FRAMING BA IN CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION AA IN PLUMBING. THINK ABOUT IT NOTHING IS BETTER THAN REAL WORLD ON THE JOB TRAINING!! YOU GET OUT OF SCHOOL WHAT DO THEY ASK, WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE.

no...it's not. any supposed "university" or "college" who thinks that it's ok to pose as a legit university or college should be shut down. GO TO COLLEGE! it's the only way to earn a degree. are people really that lazy that they can't get things the right way? I went to Ashford University in Clinton, IA. Ashwood is known to be an illegal knock-off of my alma mater.

I have a legit bachelors and masters (from Ohio State) and have published over 30 conference and journal articles (many of them very prestigious: Journal of real time systems, IEEE Transactions, AISE, TAPPI etc etc) and am respected in my field as an authority, What is wrong for someone like myself, who has a publishing record (many of which are recognized as legitimate leading edge and heretofore unknown findings) to find an alternative route to a PhD? ... I think there is some "turf protecting" going on here. There SHOULD be legitimate paths for people such as myself to obtain LEGITIMATE honorary doctorates.

This is quickly becoming the age-old question for individuals who are looking at online university and degree programs.
While many online universities say they are a great school, with amazing programs and faculty, and they have thousands of testimonials that back that up, the trick to determining if they are truly a legit institution is by looking at their accreditation.
Legit institution will be accredited by a regional accreditation agency, such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges. Institutions who are not accredited by any regionally accredited agency should be carefully considered.
Which leads me to Ashwood University who is only accredited by Board of Online Universities Accreditation Awarded the status of accreditation in March 1997 and World Online Education Accrediting Commission Awarded the status of accreditation in March 1999.
So, my suggestion is that if you are considering Ashwood University, I would be very cautious. There is a ton of really great, regionally accredited online University out there that could be a better option. Take a look at this page:
