After doing a little research I have found that there is not a definitive certification or degree that you must have to work as an a GED Instructor, but it depends more on your ability as a teacher. So, with that said, let me also say that the majority of GED Instructors have at minimum a Bachelor's degree in Education.

Would someone studying Communications, Sociology and Film be qualified to work in International Development? Would it be better for me to go a more traditional route by getting an education in International Studies instead? I have more interest in spending my fours years learning about sociology, communications and film while volunteering with NGOs in Canada. However, would this put me at a significant disadvantage intellectually and experience wise?
