OK, so here is the deal with social work. Obtaining a certificate in social work will not get you the credentials that are needed for obtaining a position as counselor or social worker. What you will have to do is obtain a degree, which a master's degree is typical for a counseling position, in order to qualify for the necessary state licensure.
